Bereavement Care
Grief and mourning are an integral part of the healing process for a spouse, family member or friend after the loss of a loved one. There is never enough time to prepare for the loss, and no one to guide you. It may seem that your pain will never end.

But, with support, time to grieve, patience and effort, there can be acceptance. There are many stages for grief, a whole mourning process in which to take part.

"Always in our Hearts" is an adult bereavement support group established to help individuals cope with the loss of a loved one. In addition to hospice families, Memorial Home Services offers bereavement services to all community members dealing with loss.

Monthly support groups provide an opportunity for mutual sharing and support. Those who have suffered a loss have an opportunity to discuss their feelings and the changes the loss has brought to their lives.

Support group participants can share coping methods for dealing with emotions such as hurt, anger, isolation and frustration. Reassurance that they are not alone in their loss experience is emphasized. Our meetings are facilitated by a professional bereavement counselor.

What is the format of the program?
The support group program is facilitated by a professional who educates on grief and its stages. It is an open program which allows participants to discuss feelings and coping methods that will help them deal with their loss. Monthly programs feature a variety of topics and fellowship.

To lose a loved one is one of life's most profound losses. Others who have been through this experience have much to teach. To listen and hear how others work through their grief may help you on the road to recovery. Informational handouts and booklets on grief and related subjects are available.

Who can attend the support group meetings?
Our bereavement support group is open to all central Illinois residents dealing with a loss. No reservations are needed. There are no fees or dues. It's not necessary to attend any set amount of meetings. Come as you are, as often as you like – you are always welcome.
