Hybrid Vehicles to Help Drive Growth for Memorial Home Services
Memorial Health System's commitment to health extends beyond patient care -- it also encompasses the promotion of a greener community.
Memorial Home Services recently purchased three hybrid Honda Civics, a reflection of its commitment to the environment and reduced emissions.
"We look for environmentally friendly practices that mirror our own mission to improve the health of people in the communities we serve," said Doug Rahn, Memorial Health System's vice president of post-acute services. "If this first entry into the hybrid market works well, we anticipate further investments in hybrid technology."
Memorial Home Services assist patients over a 19-county region. The staff logged more than 1.1 million miles last year while making approximately 65,000 home visits.
Memorial Home Services provides a wide range of services also including skilled, high-tech nursing; specialized wound care; physical and occupational rehabilitation; psychiatric nursing; and social service counseling. Hospice care includes pain and symptom management, in addition to emotional and spiritual care for terminally ill patients and their families.
There are also four retail facilities in the Memorial Home Services network, located in Springfield, Taylorville, Lincoln and Jacksonville. Home healthcare products include home-fill oxygen; durable medical equipment such as customized wheelchairs; respiratory, mastectomy, rehabilitation and medical supplies; and equipment repair.
"We are constantly identifying new ways not only to treat patients, but also to restore their health and improve their lives," Rahn said. "We believe promoting a healthy environment is consistent with our mission."
